This French farmhouse is a secret just waiting to be discovered: the classic proportions of the main house look out on the former farmyard which is bounded by now empty barns.

The large kitchen/diner has more than enough space for a wood-burning stove and sofa & chairs, perfect for the family to gather before setting out or when you're 'refuelling'. Across the hall, a correspondingly large lounge has more comfy sofas, another wood-burning stove and an eclectic library - the ideal place to wind down with a glass of wine, reviewing your day and planning the next. Le Rieu is a home from home and an ideal base for whatever kind of holiday works for you and yours.

One thing’s for sure, you won’t be disturbed by traffic, street lights or unwanted visitors (although there are owls in one of the barns). The original farmyard is now a big open space - safe for cars and energetic kids with more than enough room left over for a game of boules or badminton. Quiet French lanes across flat terrain are ideal for exploratory rides on our selection of bikes – or bring your own.

If you’d prefer something a little less energetic, there’s a hammock between the trees and a croquet lawn but don’t be surprised if you become surprisingly competitive.
