The amenities in the area
The building is centrally located to the adjacent shops and the hotels in the main road. Every thing what you need is eventually there for you. From the backery where you will find a big variety of fresh bred and cakes for your breakfast, to the bars and restaurants to please yourselves with a memorable moment, to the famous Tourigalo take away mouthwatering food that one can not resist, the ice cream shop, to the kaleidoscope of colours in the grocery with exotic fruits and vegetables. All this to give you the pleasure of being tempted by the good things in life.
Garajau village used to be a very exclusive and posh area where one could only see beautiful villas with swimming pools from the most wealthy people in the island, nowdays it has become a popular place to live away from the bustling city centre of Funchal city and due to this migration of people, there is all the essential facilities in the area. It is not a tourist area in the sense that there is only 2 hotels in the village, therefore you will be in contact with the genuine hospitality of the local people.
The apartment
Is situated in an exclusive residential property with free access to the swimming pool by our guests. From the balcony of the apartment you enjoy a 180 degrees view overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. You will be able to see the Desrtas islands in the East side at a distance, the promontory with the monument of Christ the King, the hotel Dom Pedro Garajau and the posh villas. The apartment is on the top floor of the building and there is elevators to carry you up and down. Included there is a parking space in the garage, available if you hire a car.
To complete this list you will find a supermarket, a pharmacy, a bank, a laundry, a hairdryer, souvenirs shop, etc. In case you would like to hire a car there is a rent a car also. The taxis rank is in front of the hotel, but, there is as well a good timetable of the public buses to reach the centre of Funchal at extremly reasonable prices.
During the whole day there is always the sun light all over the apartment. It is very well decorated, comfortable and cosy to spend your wonderful holidays from "home from home".
Distances
Garajau village is set between Caniço village and Funchal capital. The distance from Madeira international airport to Garajau is roughly 15 km. or 15 minutes driving.
Driving from the apartment towards Funchal city is approximately 10 km. or 10 minutes.
Coast/ Beach
This comfortable apartment is superbly situated close to the sea.
The inviting beach with its turquoise blue sea waters is just 1 km. from the apartment. It is also where the famous main attraction so called Ponta do Garajau promontory offers breathtaking views overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Caniço de Baixo village and Funchal city.
By the sea there is the Nature Reserve (Reserva Natural Parcial do Garajau) which offers an extraordinary biological diversity of fauna in the deep sea waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
