Thanks to an "Architectural Control Committee", the town can grow and change, but only in accordance with a set of guidelines regarding style and other features that its homes and buildings may and may not include.

Set along the more rugged, western end of the Costa del Sol, this town enjoys beautiful Mediterranean views and good beaches. In fact, the two kilometre stretch accompanying the village has earned a blue flags for meeting high standards regarding cleanliness and environmental friendliness.

Cadiz province has some of Andalucia's most windswept beaches, prettiest white villages and most celebrated sherry. It also boasts one of the region's most visited protected areas and the rainiest place in Spain: the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. Its coastline has long been peppered with fishing ports that were established by the Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans. Today, the Cadiz coast is a mecca for windsurfers, birdwatchers and anyone who prefers a wilder shoreline with relatively few beachgoers compared to the busier Costa del Sol.

Next to the beach is prime golf ground, covered by the Alcaidesa Links Golf Course. With views to Gibraltar and Morocco's Atlas Mountains, the course mixes sun and sand with salt breezes and inspires images of a Scottish Links course - but with an almost sub-tropical touch. In addition to providing regular players with great pleasure, the course has opened its fairways to three PGA championships since it opened in 1992.

Alcaidesa is about one and half hour from Málaga International Airport, one and half hour from the city of Jerez and only 15 minutes from excellent shopping in Gibraltar.
