... to the ever popular town of Fowey, Quayside House has been stunningly refurbished and this substantial waterfront property now offers discerning guests the very best of modern living in a unique location.
Set back from the waterfront by a terrace, the outside is brought into the living space through two sets of French doors, allowing you to sit and relax with a coffee or a glass of chilled wine and take in the view, whilst watching the children playing on the beach only a few yards away, and this pleasure extends upstairs, with each bedroom enjoying the same stunning views out across the estuary.
The terrace
At the front of the house is a paved terrace which enjoys incredible views. There is patio furniture and a BBQ, making it a great spot to wind down after a day exploring all the local area has to offer.
With six bedrooms, six bath / shower rooms, and spacious living areas, Quayside House can comfortably accommodate up to 10 / 12 guests, making it an ideal place to share a long overdue holiday away with family and friends.
The open fire place creates a warm and inviting atmosphere for those out of season breaks, whilst during the summer months the double French doors truly bring the outside in. After an active day in the fresh air, you can relax on the leather sofas in front of the 23'' freeview flat screen TV, watch one of the numerous dvd's available, or enjoy the selection of books and games.
The theme of the lounge runs through to the dining room, with the exposed beams, fire place and slate floor again creating a statement in this room. There is a large dining table (complete with ship's compass in the middle!) that can seat ten guests, with a large selection of table ware in the sideboard and kitchen providing all you need for everything from a special dinner party to a quick lunch. There is a hi-fi with docking station for your iPod and a switch box controlling separate sets of speakers in the dining room and living room. Double French doors in this room help to bring an al fresco feel to any meal!
... including Siemens American fridge/freezer with water/ice dispenser, Siemens electric oven and separate combination microwave, and Bosch dishwater, with a two oven oil fired Rayburn being the focal point. There is a high bar table and three stools, ideal for enjoying a glass of wine at whilst preparing dinner, and if there is no one about to talk to there is always the flip down TV/DVD player for company! Off the kitchen is an inner external yard with a cupboard housing a washer/drier.
The study
In my opinion, there will not be many studies in the world with better views! If you are unlucky enough to have to check in with work whilst you are away, or you just want to escape for a bit of peace and an hour surfing and catching up on email, we have furnished this room with a glass topped desk and chair, and there is Wi-fi working throughout the house.
The shower room:
A useful room, this shower room houses the ground floor toilet and washbasin, and also an electric shower which is great for washing down sandy children after a fun afternoon on the beach.
The Master Bedroom
Situated on the second floor, this spacious room is beautifully furnished with a four poster king sized bed as its centre piece. This room has two doors so is ideally suited to the parents of small children as it can be linked to the bunk bed room on this floor via a corridor, as can be seen on the floor plan.
There is a double bedroom on both the first and second floor, with each having an en-suite with direct flow watering can shower, washbasin, toilet and heated towel rail.
This bright twin bedded room is located on the first floor.
Bedrooms with adult sized single mattress bunk beds are located on both the first and second floor, with the first floor bunk bedroom having an en-suite shower room with direct flow watering can shower, washbasin, toilet and heated towel rail, whilst the second floor bunk bedroom is served by a bathroom, which houses a bath with shower attachment, toilet, washbasin, and heated towel rail. Whilst these two rooms have been furnished with children in mind, both are perfectly adequate for accommodating a single adult.
The master bathroom
This spacious bathroom has a double ended bath with central taps and shower attachment, making it great for bathing the children. There is also a large washbasin, toilet and heated towel rail.
On request we can supply two travel cots, both with changing mat attachments, two travel stair gates, two high chairs, a microwave sterilizer and a potty!
The village nestles on the eastern side of the mouth of the river Fowey, with the fashionable town of Fowey across on the other side of the estuary. There is an easy link across to Fowey via a foot passenger ferry that runs every 15 minutes, and also via the Boddinick car ferry a little further up the estuary. In the summer months the estuary teams with boats, as the yachting fraternity moor up to enjoy all that this beautiful area has to offer.
Polruan offers guests two good pubs, the Lugger and the Russell, both of which also serve food. There is a grocery store with a good stock of basics, a small café, and the Winklepicker shop, which sells a wide variety of holiday essentials including ice cream and rock and which also houses a sub Post Office. There are some stunning walks around the village, on to the old blockhouse, up to the cliffs, and on to Lantic Bay to name but a few, and the views around the village over the estuary and out to sea are truly breathtaking.
Take the quick, easy ferry trip across the river and you can enjoy all Fowey has to offer, with some great shops and restaurants, as well as more beaches and a great cove for paddling and swimming down at Readymoney Cove. There are some quality food shops for those of you wanting to put your culinary skills to the test, with Kitlow's butchers and Tiffin's deli to name but a few, and for those wanting to take things easier, there is a variety of very good restaurants to suit most tastes and pockets, including Nathan Outlaw's signature restaurant at the Marina hotel, Q restaurant at The Old Quay Hotel and Sam's on Fore Street.
... including the Eden project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, and the Monkey Sanctuary, as well as some of the other pretty towns and villages nearby, such as Lerryn, Lostwithiel, Looe, Polperro and Mevigissey. If you fancy venturing further afield, then Truro with its impressive cathedral is worth a visit, and the Northern Cornish coast is only an hour away, meaning the delights of Padstow and the surf of Watergate Bay are all within easy reach!
